Kalimba Classic
Our long standing model is now also available in the electro version. We mounted a piezo pickup inside the Kalimba and a 3.5 mm jack. The 3.5mm to 6.3mm cable to connect the instrument to an amplifier is included.
The nine-tone set of tines is tuned to an a-minor pentatonic scale. As all the notes harmonise with each other, beginners also enjoy immediate success with their instrument.
Tuning ex works (can be varied): d ́ ́,a ́,e ́,c ́,a,d ́,g ́,c ́ ́,e ́ ́

It all began with the Kalimba Klassik. At that time our only product was simply called ‘Kalimba’. Today, however, we offer a range of different versions and so we have renamed the original instrument ‘Kalimba Klassik’.
Like all HOKEMA Kalimbas, the Klassik can easily be played from the start. By plucking the tines with the thumbs, melodies can be composed immediately and creatively varied.
We have been producing this instrument for over 20 years. While the outward appearance has hardly changed, we have constantly worked on improving details.

The underside of the mahogany body has two fingerholes which produce a vibrato effect when covered/uncovered.
Measurements: 7.6 x 6 x 2.4 inch

Hokema Kalimba Sansula Renaissance Electro

Hokema Kalimba Sansula Renaissance Electro

by Hokema Kalimbas
$347.00

We have developed the Sansula Renaissance to combine the best features of our other models in one.
While the basic Sansula instrument has a relatively delicate membrane, the Renaissance is fitted with a robust synthetic REMO drumskin.
The Sansula Renaissance Electra  has a piezo pickup and a microphone mounted inside the frame and sounding block. So the Wah Wah effect can be optionally amplified. You will need an amplifier with phantom power and the needed XLR cable with 3.5 mm jack is included with the purchase of the instrument.

The Renaissance is resistant to moisture, so it retains its tension under conditions of varying air humidity and thus also retains its wonderful sound. For all age groups.
Most importantly, the Sansula Renaissance has inherited the indescribable sounds of the Sansula Klassik.
The tuning of the instrument, in a-minor with additional b and f, allows wonderful melodies to be produced, almost by themselves, by plucking the tines with the thumbs.
Optisch unterscheidet sich das neue Modell durch eine abgerundete Holzkante auf der Oberseite des Instruments.
Tuning ex-works (can be varied):
a ́, c ́ ́, c ́, a ́, a, f ́, e ́, e ́ ́, h ́
Measurements: 8 x 6.4 x 3.2 inch

Hokema B11 Kalimba Melody Electro

Hokema B11 Kalimba Melody Electro

by Hokema Kalimbas
$143.00

Now also our Mini Kalimbas are available in an electro version. We suggest you use a 6.3mm cabel and a right angle connector , cable and connector not included.

Kalimbas are metal-tined instruments which originated in southern Africa and which can be found there in countless variations.
Our Kalimba B 11 ‘Melody’ is made of solid American black cherry wood and meticulously hand-crafted. The surfaces are treated and polished with natural oils and waxes. The 11 tines are precisely tuned to the scale of G- Major, so that a large number of well-known songs can be played. The ‘Melody’ is also ideal for improvisation and intuitive playing.
We have positioned the long and short tines alternately to ensure ease of playing and in accordance with acoustic criteria.
The six shorter tines have been bent so that their ends are raised above the level of the longer ones so that they can easily be reached by the thumbs. When playing from the low to the high tones, the five long tines are plucked alternately by the thumbs beginning in the middle and moving outwards - the right thumb begins on Tine No. 6 – then the six shorter tines follow, also played from the middle outwards, whereby the left thumb begins on Tine No. 5.
Tabulature
The eleven tines are numbered from left to right. The even numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 represent the longer tines with the lower tones, the odd numbers stand for the shorter, bent tines with the higher tones. Normally – for single-voice melodies – the left thumb (L) plays the tines 1-6 and the right thumb (R) plays numbers 6-11.

The Kalimba B7 is the ‘sister’ of the B9 and is likewise a small and handy instrument with a solid resonance corpus of American cherrywood.

The measurements of both instruments are the same but the tuning, number and breadth of the tines differ.

Due to the deeper tones of the seven pentatonically-tuned tines, the vibrations are felt particularly strongly in the hands. For this reason, the B7 is especially favoured by therapists.
The tuning of the Kalimba B7 is pentatonic C.
Tuning ex works (can be varied): e ́, g , d ́, e , c ́, a , a ́
The sounds produced are therefore always in harmony and so beginners also enjoy immediate success with their instrument.
